BPC-157 for tendons (UK evidence review): what the rodent data actually shows
BPC-157's tendon literature is almost entirely rodent-based. Krivic et al. and Staresinic et al. reported that transected rat Achilles tendons treated with BPC-157 (typically 10 µg/kg or 10 ng/kg intraperitoneally or locally) showed faster functional recovery, improved tenocyte outgrowth in vitro, and better organised collagen fibres on histology versus controls.
Chang et al. extended this to cultured tendon fibroblasts, showing dose-dependent increases in cell migration and F-actin formation, plausibly via upregulation of the growth-hormone receptor on tenocytes. The mechanism is consistent, but every published tendon study is preclinical.
